  • Integrated co-op work experience with leading industry employers
  • Hands-on learning in the Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation with 80+ research labs
  • Opportunity to earn Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification (SMSCP) alongside your degree

Curriculum & Modules

The Mechatronic Systems Engineering program follows a structured four-year curriculum that begins with a common first-year engineering foundation. From second year onward, you will take specialized courses in mechatronics, robotics, control systems, and your chosen specialization area, culminating in a capstone engineering project.

Engineering Fundamentals & Physics

First Year Core

Calculus-based introductory physics with emphasis on mechanics, combined with engineering graphics, visualization techniques, and CAD fundamentals. This foundational year is common to all engineering students.

Mathematics & Linear Algebra for Engineering

First Year Core

Covers linear systems, linear transformations, matrix algebra, determinants, vectors, dot product, orthogonalization, diagonalization, eigenvectors and eigenvalues, with emphasis on applications in science and engineering.

Electrical and Computing Fundamentals

Second Year Core

Introduction to electrical circuits, digital logic, microcontrollers, and computing principles essential for mechatronic system design and integration.

Mechatronics & Control Systems

Third Year Core

Core mechatronics coursework covering sensors, actuators, PLCs, motor controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, and system-based technical thinking for integrated mechanical-electrical-computer systems.

Machine Learning & Computer Vision

Third/Fourth Year Specialization

Advanced coursework in artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms, and computer vision techniques applied to enhancing mechatronic system performance and intelligent automation.

Capstone Engineering Project & Report

Fourth Year Core

A mandatory capstone experience where students undertake a significant engineering design project, produce a comprehensive engineering report, and demonstrate their ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines.

Specialization Electives
