Program Overview: Interdisciplinary Arts and Science at University of Windsor
The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Arts and Science (BAS) at the University of Windsor provides substantial education in both the arts and sciences, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking, argumentation, and inquiry. This unique program allows you to blend diverse academic interests — such as History with Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Sciences with Music, or Film Production with Computer Science — into a single cohesive degree.
Designed for high-achieving students with broad intellectual curiosity, the program is intentionally small to give your talents the attention they deserve. In core classes featuring some of the smallest student-to-professor ratios on campus, you will study alongside ambitious, curious peers who will challenge and inspire you.
Throughout the program, you will take courses designed to foster the skills of inquiry, and in your third and fourth years, you will focus on methods of inquiry and applied inquiry. In addition to developing your research skills and engaging you with topics of public concern, these courses build your abilities and confidence as both a writer and a speaker.
Key Program Highlights
- Combine a major in Sciences with a minor in Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences — or vice versa — to create a truly personalized degree.
- Small program by design, offering some of the lowest student-to-professor ratios on campus and a close-knit academic community.
- Experiential learning opportunities including field work, internships, and practicum courses to enhance your senior year experience.
- Alumni have gone on to successful careers in art conservation, medicine, politics, environmental science, law, and graduate studies.
