Program Overview: Transforming Child Protection to Wellbeing
The Graduate Certificate in Transforming Child Protection to Wellbeing helps you critically reflect on and build an understanding of what is needed to work in partnership with communities to transform practices toward a more holistic and effective approach to child and youth wellbeing. You will work cross-culturally, learning to support children and youth to thrive in various contexts, both in Canada and globally.
This program was developed in collaboration with two prominent international organizations in child rights, child protection, and wellbeing: the International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD) and Child Frontiers. Applying critical inquiry and systems thinking, the certificate offers child rights, welfare, and protection professionals an opportunity to critically reflect on theories and practice for creating positive change with children, youth, families, communities, organizations, and governments.
The program is designed for professionals from international and national non-governmental organizations, UNICEF and other United Nations agencies, research organizations, and government employees, as well as frontline workers from both the Global South and North. You will examine professional and regulatory systems and learn how change can be made on a systemic level.

Systems Thinking for Child and Youth Wellbeing
3 CreditsAnalyze professional and regulatory systems and learn how systemic-level change can be achieved. Investigate how informal systems affect children's lives and how cross-cultural approaches can strengthen outcomes for children and youth.
Transforming Practice: From Protection to Wellbeing
3 CreditsApply critical inquiry and participatory methodologies to develop strategies for creating positive change with children, youth, families, communities, organizations, and governments. Bring children's voices into policy and programming initiatives to impact regulatory and community change.
Cross-Cultural Perspectives in Child Rights
