Program Overview: Zoology with Marine Zoology MZool
The Zoology with Marine Zoology MZool at Prifysgol Bangor University is a four-year integrated masters course that combines in-depth zoological training with specialised study of marine animal life. Situated on the North Wales coast between the mountains of Snowdonia and the Menai Strait, Bangor provides unrivalled access to an exceptional range of terrestrial, marine and freshwater habitats for fieldwork and research.
This extended undergraduate programme allows you to graduate with a BSc (Hons) at the end of your third year or continue to the fourth year to obtain the MZool masters qualification. The fourth year offers a unique opportunity to conduct an extended research project either in the laboratory or in the field, giving you advanced research skills that distinguish you from BSc graduates.
You will study traditional zoology including taxonomy, morphology, physiology and cell biology alongside specialised modules in marine zoology covering the conservation, physiology and behaviour of marine invertebrates. Field courses are an integral part of this degree, with opportunities for international fieldwork in locations such as the Caribbean and beyond.
