Curriculum & Modules
The Broadcast - Radio curriculum is designed to build your skills progressively over four semesters, starting with foundational broadcasting knowledge and advancing to fully immersive radio station operations. You will rotate through industry-matched roles and develop expertise in on-air performance, technical production, news, creative writing, and digital media.
Develop on-air announcing and voice acting skills for radio, podcasting, and digital media platforms through practical studio exercises and live broadcasting.
Learn professional audio production techniques including recording, editing, mixing, and mastering using industry-standard digital audio software and equipment.
Rotate through operational positions at CJIQ FM and the college streaming station, filling industry-matched roles such as Morning Show Host, Music Director, Producer, and News Anchor.
Develop skills in research, interviewing, script writing, and news reporting for radio broadcast formats, with emphasis on journalistic standards and ethical practices.
Learn to promote a station's brand and generate revenue through advertising sales activities, client proposals, and marketing campaign development for local businesses.
